Before You Choose
Before you search our site for your new holster, you need to decide on your:
- Gun
- Weaponlight
- Carry Position
1. Gun
To maximize draw-speed and ensure a secure fit, every T.REX-ARMS holster is designed for a specific gun (or gun/weaponlight combo) For example, your SIG or CZ won’t fit in a Glock holster.
So, don't spend your money until you know which gun you will carry.
2. Weaponlights and Light-Compatible Holsters
Most modern semi-autos have an accessory rail near the muzzle-end of the gun, and we consider a rail-mounted light a high-priority accessory.
Carrying a gun with a weaponlight requires a “Light-Compatible” holster molded for that specific gun/weaponlight. Substitute one weaponlight for another, or remove your weaponlight, and poof! your Light-Compatible holster is now a pistol bucket with no retention. A mere shadow of its former self.
We recommend you look at what gun/light combos are supported by a holster before you buy both the holster and the light. To see what lights we recommend and holsters that work with them, explore our Light-Compatible Holsters and Lights page.
3. Carry Position
Carry Position is a matter of priorities. You’ve got two basic categories:
- Inside the Waistband (IWB) Holsters
- Outside the Waistband (OWB) Holsters
IWB vs. OWB
IWB holsters are optimized to hide your pistol. When you choose an IWB holster, you sacrifice a little speed and comfort to keep discrete. Choose IWB for carrying your gun every day under normal clothes.
OWB holsters are the opposite. Your gun is visible, but you increase your weapon-access, comfort, and mobility. Choose OWB for practicing at the range, duty use, competitions, or perhaps being a Rooftop Korean.
Inside the Waistband (IWB) Options
Within the category of IWB holsters, T.REX-ARMS makes 2 main holster types:
- The Sidecar Holster (an appendix-carry-only holster that can hold a gun and an extra magazine) and its Light-Compatible Variant.
and
- The Raptor Appendix Holster (an appendix-carry holster for a gun only, that can also be worn in other positions) and its Light-Compatible Variant.
TREX-ARMS specializes in appendix-carry holsters, which are worn inside the waistband on the front of your body somewhere between the 11 o'clock position and the 1 o'clock position.
The Raptor Appendix Holster is wearable in the appendix position or at 3-6 o’clock. The Sidecar Holster, on the other hand, is appendix only, but it’s also more stable since it has two clips, and it also allows you to carry an extra magazine.
If you know you want to carry appendix and won’t need to carry in any other position, get the Sidecar. If you’re not sure if you want to appendix carry, the Raptor will let you try it out without locking you in.
Outside the Waistband (OWB) Options
T.REX makes only one kind of OWB holster: The Ragnarok (along with the Light-Compatible version, the Light-Compatible Ragnarok).
The best way to carry a Ragnarok is with a Safariland UBL and a Thigh Strap. If you’re swapping out multiple holsters on the same belt, you’ll also want the QLS System. Otherwise, the UBL and Thigh Strap are all you need.
If you can't use a UBL due to competition or department regs, the next best option is the Belt Slide.
Whenever you order a Ragnarok and an attachment in the same order, we install that attachment for you.
